Das Vamonos Projekt (2009/10) * Mit drei Tandems und elf hörenden und tauben Menschen durch Südamerika… Diese Gebärdensprach-Nutzer aus vier Ländern untereinander bekannt gemacht, 90 Workshops in Sachen Gebärdensprache und etliche Interviews gegeben… Beeindruckende Landschaft, Tränen und Spass – ein Tandem-basiertes PR-Projekt unter der Schirmherrschaft der CBM Es ging darum, das Tandem als Medium zu nutzen, um in Südamerika und daheim in Deutschland für mehr Wissen und Akzeptanz gehörlosen Mitmenschen gegenüber zu werben. Das Team bestand aus deutschen und südamerikanischen hörenden und gehörlosen Spezialisten verschiedener Gebärdensprachen. In drei Etappen fuhren wir gemeinsam ein halbes Jahr bis Februar 2010 etwa 3000 km in Brasilien, Bolivien und Ecuador. Wir gaben an die 90 Workshops in Regelschulen der drei Länder und schafften es, die Presse vor Ort für unser Anliegen zu interessieren. Ein komplexes aber sehr erfolgreiches Kommunikations-Projekt, verpackt in einem Vortrag, der – wie immer – keinen Aspekt auslässt: Mensch und Natur sowie Geschichten und Hintergrundwissen werden in einem chronologisch klar gegliederten Vortrag mit einigen Videos sowie viel Musik und O-Tönen beleuchtet. The Vamonos Project (2009/10) * Going on three tandem bikes and eleven hearing and deaf people through South America. Those users of different sign languages got connected, we had more than 90 sign language workshops in schools and a lot of media coverage: in Germany and locally. Impressive landscape, passion and tears were also part of this tandem based PR campaign. Patron: Christion Blind Mission 41 days we were cycling with Diego and Raquel (a deaf/hearing couple from Sao Paolo) along the Brasilian coast giving in average one workshop in Brasilian sign language (LIBRAS) a day. Then we swoped one week hitchhiking (with 3 tandem bikes each 2,5 m long) to Bolivia (3500 km distance). There a lot of time and energy had to be invested in order to find our only local deaf guys we needed to be able to give authentic workshops. Hugo and Nico plus Reynaldo were acompanieing us two weeks altogether. Mid of december after the first three months the mayority of my German team (one deaf and two hearing persons) flew home and I overbridged 1,5 months untill February 2010 with Juliana, one of the sign language knowing students. The February Jacqueline, the EC transator and me gave our best in order to bandy our topic about. Our big problem was: first there were summer holidays (no school workshops possible) and secondly thanks to the socalled paternalism the deaf Ecuatorian just didn´t understand why they should participate. All in all a good success: with 90 workshops plus the mediareports in Germany and the local countries we absolutely made our goal: to scatter more knowledge – and in this way – more tolerance towards the deaf community and furthermore I a lot in Ecuador about the destructive impact of badly executed development aid.
